Synopsis. AIYA! “AIYA!” are the upcoming descendants of Hong Kong superstar Sam Hui, who is known locally as the "King of Cantopop". They are a comedic duo, including the members of Justin Lim, the protégé of Sam, and Scott Hui, the youngest son of Sam. “AIYA!” will carry on the legacy of the Sam by remaking his hit songs from the 70's to the 80's with English lyrics and in the style of modern day Western pop music, creating a new experience for everyone. They will cover songs such as "Boon Gan Baat Leung", "Cheen Cheen Cheen", "Sup Go Nui Jai", and many more. Justin lends his singing voice as Scott brings in the rap, giving the songs a powerful combination of talent as well as great international appeal. After touring with his dad, Scott wanted to get into music. He had already been deemed in the press as "the rapper" of the family and had previous experience working as a creative consultant for Hollywood films. Being a fan of hip/hop and rap music, the thought of turning his dads' song into new beats was an idea that would be fun, creative and unexpected. It was only a matter of time before he connected his specialty with the talents of Justin Lim. Justin grew up from a young age as an Elvis impersonator with an extensive musical background and specialization in the area of oldies music. He also has great familiarity in a range of musical instruments, including the guitar, bass, drums, and piano. Both Scott and Justin are fans of modern pop music and have decided to take up the challenge of putting together an East meets West concept. With Justin's musical background, he has taken up the task of rewriting, rearranging and producing the music, whilst Scott writes his own comedic rap lyrics. With an inspiration from his dad, Scott aims include in his rap what his father's lyrics are notorious for: local daily life in Hong Kong. “AIYA!” is hope for the younger generation to look back and appreciate past time music and create a new listening experience for everyone. They also wish to appeal to those who are familiar with the well-known tunes of Sam Hui. |
